Q. Who is the main Villain in The Batman?

A. My conclusion, Batman: Year Two's; The Reaper

Q. Why is there so much red in the suit reveal?

A. Blood reference or Murder

How did I get to this conclusion you ask...

Here are the facts we know...

The story will take place a year into Batman's reign aka Year Two, according to insiders and The Wrap.

We also know several villains will make a debut in this movie.

  • Zoe Kravitz's Selina Kyle

  • Collin Farrel's Penguin

  • Paul Dano's Riddler

  • John Turturro's Carmine Falcone

  • and due to a recent clip.. someones henchmen. not known if it they are Joker's or even the Penguin's.

Clearly, even though we have several villains in play or being shown, there will be one MAIN villain. Whether we assume the bad guys are all working together, or individually POI's for Batman's case.. there will be a master mind in play behind the chaos of the movie.

Not to mention, from Matt Reeves himself we are told Batman's detective skills will be explored heavily. Leading us to believe the first villain given to us, probably wont be the culprit, or that defeats the purpose for the detective.

Then we have the suit reveal..

Just Kidding...

Here we can clearly see armor will be a part of his suit, and from the looks of it its plated. The importance of a plated or layers armor is the tolerance of impact given. This gives us the idea that he will be facing more than bullets, rather powerful blows , possibly large enemies or a group of enemies. Also one can gather the choice of metal plated armor is to hinder blades and other sharp weapons from penetration.

Also as we do further digging we have four confirmed stunt doubles.

  • Bobby Holland Hanton - (Common Chris Hemsworth and Henry Cavill double ) Known for Avengers: End Game, Inception, Skyfall and more. Probably our Bruce.

  • Scott Kirkbride - known for Maze Runner: Death Cure, Tomb Raider, and the new upcoming Blood Shot.

  • Jean Paul- Ly - Known for 400 Bullets, Jail Break, and The Gentlemen (we will come back to him)

  • Cali Nelle - Known for Kingsman: the secret service, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Solo. ( from his heavy action movies being black widow, 6 under ground, assassins creed and more.. his height and posture.. we can conclude he is probably our Batman.

Now when we look at Paul Ly's history from TreadStone T.V show, Fast and Furious' Hobbs and Shaw, and Fast 9, to Lucy and Street Fighter... we can see his stunts are centered around movies with top line fighting mixed martial arts as well as mixed weaponry use. He is even said to be in venom 2 which has, axe and multi-blade using Carnage as their villain. This has to be our villain's stunt double. Even with Batman's vast knowledge of fighting, true fans can recognize and distinguish Batman's bruiser style of fighting in combat is usually dominate. Once you take in the fact that 3 of then 4 stunt doubles are mixed martial artist, we can almost with certainty say, Batman will have a physical challenge in this upcoming movie. Well, that doesn't really add up when we looked at the confirmed casted villains. Catwoman, while agile and deadly, doesn't bring much fight to the table. The Penguin, as he runs for mayor, has his goons to do his dirt for him. Pretty much same with Falcone, or even EU characters like Black Mask, Joker, and others. If we look at main villains in the comics, the only ones to ever match The Bats physically, is Death Stroke, Ras Al' Ghul and.... The Reaper.

Speculations

Batman's morals will have a major play. We have heard from Reeves and Patterson that this iteration of the character will push him further than before and show us a very different side than we have before. When we take in consideration Batmans morals, " If you kill a killer, the number of killers in the room remains the same." We are forced to remember what makes him, murder of innocence for one. Not to mention Batmans damn near hate for guns, which was thrown out the window in Snyder's B v S. Although, having an enemy that pushes batman to his end wits, pushing him past weapons and past the thought of mercy... that could be enough to give the audience a new side of Mr Wayne, while keeping true to his comic book self.

As talked about earlier we can conclude, action will have a big role in this movie as well. Continuing on the topic of antagonist that can deliver the action to the Bats, we can cross a few out from what history with Warner Bros. have shown us. Dark Knight trilogy starts its series off with Ras Al' Ghul as the primary issue. Highly doubtful that as Matt Reeves starts his batman movies off, he will follow the same path Christopher Nolan did. He has spoken so many times about bringing something new and fresh to the table. Then we get to Deathstroke... oh dear ole Deathstroke. After making his debut on the big screen over on CW's Arrow, Deathstroke's Chr. was snatched to the real screen for the ending of Justice League's Post credit scene. Well its been all but confirmed that WB is done with that entire timeline. The following movies don't follow the pattern, and Cw's Flash destroyed said timeline with a brief Ezra Miller cameo, demonstrating that his world was ending. Its safe to say Deathstroke's return will be inevitable but in the far future for sure.

At last we also speculate that Matt Reeves will show his audience something they have not seen on screen before. Well, we have seen Bruce Wayne fight Ras, Scarecrow, Bane, Joker and Harley and even Deadshot, Hell if you go back to the 70's 80's 90 movies we damn near have the whole rogues gallery delivered on screen. The reaper is not one of them. The Reaper is a character sadly not well known or beloved. Nevertheless he has had a rather memorable encounter with our caped crusader, pushing him to use the very gun used on his parents... against the masked murderer. With the recent theory out, stating the bat logo found on Robinson's chest is the remaining parts of the gun used on his parents, this furthers the importance and role of the gun in the film.

How it all connects

In Batman: Year 2 we get a story of the Greatest Detective being pushed against Gotham's first vigilante, The Reaper. A story that shows the difference of a vigilante taken justice in their own hands for their own means, and one doing it with the change of the world in mind. This story has Batman matched physically, and mentally as this 'Reaper' matches him in every weapon and almost every move. in the end result, batman takes the gun used on his parents and uses it against him. What better way to show batman against a new foe, be pushed to a much darker tone, and show a deeper meaning to batman's reluctant use of a gun or why he would ever utilize one?
